Benkendorf earned his undergraduate degree from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania in 2007. He majored in Communication Studies, focusing on leadership and social influence, and minored in Legal Studies. He then obtained his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, in 2010 and has been a member of the New Jersey Bar since 2011.
