Amanda Blackford, Paralegal & Manager of Office Operations
Works primarily in the areas of Commercial, Environmental, and Estate, Litigation and Commercial Real Estate. Amanda assists attorneys in the preparation of litigation documents, including responsive pleadings, motions and discovery responses. She manages files and provides support during the discovery process, particularly with the organization of large-scale document production, document review and deposition preparation. Amanda also assists with the preparation of pleadings, discovery requests, and court filings. Amanda is also integral in ensuring that commercial closing procedures and documentary requirements for our clients are followed.

Lauren Van Gorden, Paralegal & Events Coordinator
Lauren works in practice areas of Commercial Real Estate, Business Law, Tax Appeals, Land Use and Civil Litigation. Lauren facilitates the closing of commercial real estate transactions, and aides in commercial lease agreements. She is skilled in business formations and registration, as well as asset purchase agreements. She enjoys preparing planning and zoning board applications and ensuring compliance with municipal land development ordinances through the granting of a resolution of approval. She also assists with the preparation of pleadings, discovery requests, and court filings.
In addition to being a member of our paralegal team, Lauren has taken on the initiative of coordinating firm events such as Wills for Warriors, the Askin & Hooker Labor Day 5K and Guard your Grad. On her days off, Lauren enjoys taking her daughter to the park and also enjoys traveling to the Bronx to watch the Yankees play.

Jessica Gunderman, Paralegal
Works primarily in Residential Real Estate. Jessica has extensive client contact and works with our clients through the buy/sell process, including the home inspection, title work, judgment searches and homeowner association requirements. She also assists attorneys in the preparation of the initial drafts of deeds, mortgages and other real estate transfer documents.
Brittany Ast, Paralegal
Brittany works primarily in the areas of Estate Planning and Administration, Medicaid Planning, Guardianships, Foreclosures, Landlord/ Tenant matters, and some Estate Litigation. She assists attorneys in drafting Estate Planning documents including Wills, Living Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney.
Education– Graduated from the University of New Haven, B.S. in Criminal Justice, Investigative Services in 2015. While at the University of New Haven, Brittany played lacrosse for the Division II program and was selected captain her senior year and DII Defensive Player of the Year. She also completed the Paralegal Certification Program from Sacred Heart University in 2016.
William C. “Pop” Askin, Financial Management
Oversees the firm’s financial and bookkeeping operations. He is a career banker retiring from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank after 38 years in the banking industry. As manager of our day-to-day accounting and financial requirements, Pop is responsible for accounting, payroll, financial processes, account reconciliation, taxes, and financial statements and reports.

Tierney Clark, Legal Assistant
Works primarily in the area of Residential and Commercial Real Estate. She assists attorneys, paralegals, and firm clients throughout the entire transaction process. Tierney joined Askin & Hooker in 2016 as the receptionist but has steadily taken on more responsibility and has grown to become a legal assistant. She is a Sussex County native who graduated from High Point Regional High School in 2015. In addition to working full time at the firm, Tierney is currently enrolled in a Paralegal Studies program at Sussex County Community College, where she is pursuing a Paralegal Certificate as well as an Associate’s Degree. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society, Psi Beta, the Psychology Honor Society and has just been invited to join the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
